The initial complaints on social media were relatively small, but quickly they became something for the right-wing media to talk about. The frame being the left is crazy and then the right rallying to defend Sweeney and American Eagle as a way to own the libs. Now, the controversy has basically become an ad for the GOP and right-wing creators, something to rally the base. Nowhere was this more evident than on Fox News. Well, as you saw over the week, Democrats had a meltdown over Sydney Sweeny's ad for jeans. Well, you can say she didn't get the left's attention. At the same time, extremist groups, white supremacist groups, and anti-trans influencers felt acknowledged by both the ad and the rights response.
