  Today, I was reading about tipping. Uh there was a New York magazine piece that just came out that was about I guess on the screens when a lot of people love to avoid the tipping screen so they just leave. But there's been I guess there's been conversation about people they're called tipping Robin Hoods that they just they come after you and they just put 20% on your card. Really? Yeah. How do you feel about that? Well, I don't love the whole I mean, look, I I was sort of pride myself. I I consider myself a generous ter, you know? Yeah. Something about the screens. It's like I still do it. I don't love it. The same way, you know, seems a little But, you know what I noticed about the screens though? I feel as though the sequence of the options that they give you on the screen, they they rotate them so that you automatically hit the higher one. I don't know what it is. So, I think like like in my mind like I feel like it should go cheapest or lowest 15 20 25 left to right. And I think I've noticed that they're switching it up so that it'll put 25 or 30% on the left and then I'm not 100% sure but I believe gamified. I think they're gamifi. So I'm not totally sure about this. Oh man. So that you in you you sort of intuitively hit the highest one on the left. I don't really ever hit the I don't and then I I don't know. I I'm sort of a middle guy. Yeah. And it's screens. I tip well, but I still think that tipping is think that we could have better system. I think that something more equitable. You'd think so. But it's weird. But I mean like even when you travel and when I go to uh countries where there's not a tipping culture, it's weird not to tip, right? Like it feels hard. I want to give I got to give you like something extra, right? And so it's really hard cuz there I know there have been various experiments in New York City restaurants like we're going to get rid of and they never seem to work, right? Yeah. I remember going to Romans when that was going on and it was like all the staff was like furious like they were like like you could feel it intuitively. Most people could probably say why the whole tipping system is a little broken or doesn't make sense economically. And I think like economists have tried to sort of reverse engineer why tipping exists etc. But it feels weird not to tip. I mean from what I've heard like it has a lot to do with healthare like that that employers pay them less so than they can afford to pay for healthare. I guess I don't I don't really understand. But you'd still think, okay, the co there is some all-in price that the customer pays for the meal and food just charge $10 for the coffee. And yet, but I do sort of like I have I was at a place recently, I forgot where I was, but I think they just had a 20% service fee built in. And it was kind of nice. So, it's like still so at the end they're like, "Oh, the 20% service fee is just there. Great, great. I'm happy to. I'm totally happy. I don't want like a some weird psychological game. They're like doing experiments on me. Yeah, I know. So, it's fine. But it's like switching the the lens. I don't think I don't think it's ever going to change. You don't think ever? I doubt I don't know. Huh. I really I wonder you're more optimistic. I guess it just I mean especially in New York like you can make a lot of money. Yeah. I think that when that was happening they were like people who are making like $100,000 a year like and they went they servers. Yeah. Yeah. They're like why would we ever want to not That's what I'm saying. I don't think it's going to go. I think it'll probably just be the status quo. Yeah, I wonder if it's that way in other places besides New York. I don't know. Yeah, I really don't know. Maybe maybe elsewhere they can they can maybe one of these post tip experiments will succeed in an economy where being a server isn't quite so lucrative and they have more flexibility.
