A piece of exercise hardware that allowed young Brian to start working out at age 8.
I've got bench press in here. I think I think good. You think good? You would say incline is incline bench press is better. Uh no. Well, I'd say incline chest press is more accessible and for most people anyway and really applicable. I think bench press is really really good. Um but I think it does have its limitation being if you are a um we've not really talked about type of climbers actually so far. So other than comp. So, if you're a muscular young male athlete, doing bench press has it limitations of you hit ceiling and then there's diminishing returns. I've seen that time and time again of whether it's like just above body weight or quite a bit above body weight, you do start to see the lack of return. The best reason for using bench press is if you want to get better at like pulling like Josh said in those extended positions or you want to learn to do one armor or any those sorts of like really powerful movements, do this for a period of time around 6 weeks. You get fully recruited in your pecs. Um, and that can transfer really well to climbing. And then you won't generally put on a huge amount of muscle mass on your chest because that's one of the other limitations. Why I said for young male athletes who tend to put a lot of muscle on quicker is you start to increase your chest size which has diminishing returns as well. Um, I think for older athletes, female athletes, those who are less likely to put muscle mass on easily, I think it's a really really good exercise. year round staple. Yeah, I mean it is borderline god tier. So, um what do you think? Yeah, I mean I I would probably lean towards god tier. I think like if I you know if I had to give like the simplest program it would probably be a pulling exercise, a pushing exercise and a hinging exercise. I think we need like one of each. And maybe maybe we've already gone we've kind of got that in the good though. I think if we were say if we were saying base season you could move like rack pull or deadlift up and bench press. If you're in peak season I wouldn't be doing bench press. Yeah. Okay. So I think as an allrounder all right I'm happy with good. I think for me it's been definitely one that's made my shoulders feel way stronger and like you say that pulling when you're extended the pec gets lengthened that's going to actually initiate a lot of the movement.
